Inclusion

The Office of Inclusive Education support inclusive instructional teams consisting of District 75 SETSS (Special Educational Teacher Support Service) providers and District 1-32 teachers in classrooms determined by the student’s support needs as indicated on their IEP. The classroom team may also include paraprofessionals and/or related service providers. All teachers within inclusive school programs are members of one community with a common vision of all students actualizing their desired long term adult outcomes. The adults in the classroom serve as models of collaboration for the students, demonstrating that the success of the team is based on the positive interaction of all participants. Every team member contributes to building and sustaining structures that support the education of students in inclusive schools by:

  • Ensuring a healthy, safe and academically effective environment
  • Communicating and collaborating to develop, implement, and progress monitor students' IEPs
  • Confirming students' access to the Next Generation Learning Standards (NGLS), the general education curriculum and all necessary instructional and social emotional supports
